I am happy to learn that my Alma Mater, St Kabir Public School is being featured in a leading magazine and a well known TV Channel.
I am proud alumnus of St Kabir Public school. The School’s motto -Labour Omnia Vincit (Labour Always Wins) – is reflected everywhere in the school. I remember the founder Principal, Mr JP Singh Sir making sure that each and every member of the faculty and staff imbibed this principle to the fullest.
To do this, he led from the front. He knew about each and every student from Nursery to 10th class, and made an effort to personally monitor the progress of each one. This was the one thing which ensured that each teacher also paid attention to the individual requirements and progress of every student. After all, Sir would not only take this feedback from the teachers, but also check by interacting randomly with the students, as well as the parents, during the regular parent teacher meeting. This personalized approach of Sir and Ma’am Singh, where all the students were part of the extended family, is what set aside the school from others.
The school exemplified Academic Rigour. No shortcuts were taken and every student had to match up to a very high academic standard. This, I believe, laid a very strong foundation which held students like me in very good stead. Of course, extracurricular activities were also were greatly encouraged. I remember participating in and winning umpteen debates, declamations, quizzes and various literary competitions. Public speaking in the morning assembly was encouraged from the primary wing itself. The rivalries between the ‘school houses’ developed a sense of healthy competition amongst us and it also made us realise the importance of teamwork and cooperation.
I remember my stint as School Captain as an important stepping stone for inculcation of leadership values. Yes, Sir and Ma’am were known as strict disciplinarians. Yet, they were the ultimate parental figures for all students – hard on the outside, but with the softest heart and zeal for the well-being of all students. Combined with the team of extremely dedicated, hand-picked teachers, they instilled a sense of Honesty, Hard Work, Responsibility, Compassion, Humanism, and Patriotism, amongst all students.
