To Praise my Alma Mater Kabir, I stand here today, the journey that started in 1998 has never ended and I stay firm on my words that this journey will never end.
To start with a small ritual I do post 2006, that describes what a School like St Kabir means to me and to every alumni of Kabir. Each time I pass by the front gate of the school and it happened almost daily for almost 5 years, I bow my head down in respect as I do in front of a gurudwara. That’s St Kabir for me, a temple of knowledge and my Guru.
If I am to briefly describe myself , I am an engineer by education, with a degree in finance, an ex-banker who resigned from a well placed Govt Job in India’s 2nd largest Public Sector Bank and I am now working as a financial advisor in a Forbes Top 100 company in Toronto, Canada and it would not be an overstatement if were to say that I am everything because of St Kabir & it’s Teachers.
The teachers who taught us are an institution in themselves. The things that I learnt from the school are innumerable and if I sit to pen them down, I could write an entire novel on them and I guarantee the novel will be a bestseller just like my school. During my journey from post 2006, when I passed out, I have always made sure to be in touch with my teachers and whatever decision I took , I made sure I discussed it with my teachers at Kabir, who have always been my guiding light whenever I needed it.
St Kabir taught me not just subject’s, it taught me the way of life, how I speak, how I memorize, how I walk, even how I wear my turban , I learnt from St Kabir, that is how much of a lasting impression has been left by the school on me. The way were taught with conviction and passion has made us into educated and responsible adults, we were all taught the importance of respecting one another and the importance of team work that even after 12 years has not faded from my memory.
Though I say this often to my teachers who I meet, but it is the first time, I will be writing it down, I love my school and my teachers and dedicate all that I am today to St Kabir.
